A U.S Navy Ship has Sailed into Brisbane

The USS America, a formidable U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship, has docked at the Port of Brisbane for a routine port visit. Carrying over 2,000 U.S. Marines and sailors, the 257-meter vessel, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, is in Australian waters as part of its operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area, which focuses on maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region. The ship, equipped with advanced F-35B Lightning II stealth fighters and other aircraft, will undergo maintenance and resupply during its stay, while the crew enjoys some rest and relaxation. Although the ship is not open to the public, the visit offers the crew a chance to explore Brisbane’s vibrant culture, history, and attractions, strengthening ties between the U.S. and Australia. This port call follows the ship’s recent activities in the Coral Sea and a visit to Sydney in June 2025, with preparations underway for the multinational Exercise Talisman Sabre, set for July 13 to August 4, 2025.
